This Patna-Born Doctor is The New US Ambassador to Singapore

New Delhi: In the midst of the excitement surrounding the current Bihar Assembly elections, some encouraging news that is closely related to the state has subtly surfaced in the halls of power. It is that of Dr Anjani K. Sinha, who was born in Patna and has been appointed as the United States’ envoy to Singapore.

Significantly, Dr Anjani K. Sinha has charted an incredible journey from Patna’s back streets to the halls of international diplomacy.

This week marked the official start of the eminent orthopaedic surgeon and Delhi University alumnus’s term as the US Ambassador to Singapore, another significant milestone for a person whose life has been characterised by competence, service, and statesmanship.

“I am deeply honoured to represent the US in Singapore, a friend of the US that is a leading hub for American business and a pillar of regional stability,” Ambassador Sinha said upon his arrival in Singapore.

“President Trump has asked me to increase our ambitions for cooperation with Singapore, based on mutual respect and shared priorities. I look forward to working together in areas such as technology, energy, and security.”

The choice of Dr Sinha has been perceived as Washington’s dedication to deepening its relationship with Singapore, which has flourished for almost 60 years.

Through cooperation in new technologies, energy security, law enforcement, and defence, the U.S.-Singapore connection has produced real benefits for both countries.

Ambassador Sinha was well-known in the medical community as a skilled orthopaedic surgeon and prosperous businessman before entering the field of diplomacy.

“As a physician, I have spent my career connecting with people and delivering results, and I look forward to applying that same spirit of collaboration to deepen the ties between our two countries,” he said.

Sinha offers a special combination of empathy and practicality to his new position. He is well-known for his warmth and accuracy in both leadership and surgery.

His wife, Dr Kiki Sinha, a retired anaesthesiologist and professor at New York University, joins Ambassador Sinha in Singapore. After 48 years of marriage, the couple has three grandchildren and two children.

Dr Sinha’s appointment serves as a proud reminder to Bihar that global diplomacy frequently starts with solid foundations and well-deserved aspirations.
