Tokyo: The rate of Domestic violence cases in Japan has reached an all-time high in 2019 as it grows for the 16th consecutive year, police said in a report published on Thursday.
Investigating 9,161 cases of domestic violence last year of 1,479 complaints, which marked a 73 % rise compared to the year before of 261 cases, Efe news quoted the report as saying.
90 percent involved assaults of some kind, including three murders and 110 cases of attempted murder and around 80 percent of the domestic violence complaints received by the police were filed by women.  Male complainants have also tripled compared to 2014 figures.
Such tackling rise in figures might be due to the implementation of stricter laws and growing social awareness over gender-based violence and also the rate of revenge porn now common malpractice was noted.
Women above twenty around 376 also involving minors were majorly recorded to have registered their domestic violence cases.
