Muhammad Yunus Arrives in Dhaka to head Bangladesh's Interim Govt. Received at Airport by Army Chief and Student Body Representatives

Dhaka: A significant moment in Bangladesh’s political landscape is on the horizon as the temporary administration is poised to appoint economist Muhammad Yunus as its chief adviser. His arrival in Dhaka on Thursday afternoon from Dubai marks a pivotal step in this process.

According to Xinhua news agency, Yunus was greeted at the airport by the organizers of the Students Against Discrimination campaign and General Waker-Uz-Zaman, the Chief of Army Staff.

As per General Waker-Uz-Zaman’s earlier statement, the formation of the interim administration, under the leadership of economist Muhammad Yunus, is eagerly anticipated to take place on Thursday night.

During a press conference on Wednesday in Dhaka, the army chief stated that the advisory council, a body that will provide guidance and advice to the interim administration, might consist of up to 15 members.

After Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s administration resigned, President Mohammed Shahabuddin dissolved the parliament on Tuesday, allowing for the establishment of an interim administration in the South Asian nation.

Sajeeb Wazed, the son of deposed Prime Minister Hasina, told IANS he believes Western organisations or Pakistan’s ISI are behind the protests.
