Nippy mornings bring in the first sign of winters in the capital city

New Delhi, Nov 19:  It was a slightly cold Saturday morning with mist in the national capital as the minimum temperature recorded two notches below the season's avearge at 10.1 degrees Celsius. With the monsoons setting the pace for the year, winters too are anticipated to be colder than usual.

"The sky is likely to be clear through out the day. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 27 degrees Celsius," said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 84 per cent and visibility was 3,000 metres.

Friday's maximum temperature was recorded at 27.8 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the season while the minimum temperature settled at 12.3 degrees Celsius, normal for the season's average. With the national capital recently coming out of the smog like situation, the winter spell could possibly aggravate the pollution further with particulate matter sticking on to the mist particles.
