A wave of violent attacks in northern and central Iraq Tuesday left at least seven people killed and five wounded, police said.

 

 In Nineveh province, two soldiers were killed and three wounded, including an officer, in an ambush by gunmen who opened fire on the victims' car Qaiyara town, 50 km from Mosul city, reported Xinhua citing a police source.

 

 Two policemen were killed and as many suffered injuries when a roadside bomb exploded near their patrol in Shoura area, south of Mosul, some 400 km from Baghdad, the source said.

 

 A policeman was killed when a roadside bomb ripped through Mosul's Dakat-Barakah area, the source added.

 

 Meanwhile, unidentified gunmen shot dead Saad Zaghlol, spokespersosn of Nineveh governorate in front of his house in Mosul's Qadsiyah district, a police source said. 

 

 Elsewhere, armed men gunned down a barber in Siniyah town, about 200 km from Baghdad, a local police source said. 

 

 The attacks came in the wake of deadly attacks across Iraq, including an overnight wave of massive bombings in Baghdad, that killed at least 44 people and wounded some 123 others.

 

 The UN Assistance Mission for Iraq has said that almost 6,000 civilians were killed and over 14,000 injured in Iraq from January to September this year.
