Timely arrest of four prevents IS sanctioned attack in France
Paris: Four close friends living in the same French city had been planning a massive attack on French soil and were communicating their plans through a closed phone line. According to the French Police which is being credited with making the timely arrest, the attack could have been launched as early as next week as sanctioned by The Islamic State group.
According to the statement given out by Paris Prosecutor, Francois Molins, the arrests were in made in the city of Strasbourg and after interrogations the date for the attack was revealed to be December 1 even though the target area still remains unknown.
A fifth arrest was made in the city of Marseille on the same day. The suspect though was not in direct touch with the other four masterminds. He was being guided by a distant IS operative from another module.
Though the target areas remain unknown the state of security is at the highest possible alert with increased police presence in all key places.The four operatives were arrested with arms and ammunition in their possession including two handguns, two automatic rifles, several cartridges of different caliber. Instructions for money transfer were also found along with GPS coordinates. One suspect had in his procession detailed explanation for obtaining more weapons in a USB stick.
In what is a testament to the extremist mindset. a book of 12 pages calling on Jihad was also found with the arrested persons. The terror suspects were brought before counter terrorism investigating judges, where the prosecutor presented the evidence and his report and requested the court to jail the suspects as they were a danger to free society.
The five will face preliminary investigations charged with terrorism. OF the four arrested two are French nationals, aged 37 while the other two are Franco Tunisian (36) and a 35 year old Franco Moroccan, the fifth arrested in Marseille is a 26 year old Moroccan.
