Our Soldiers’ Dedication and Service Will Never Cease to Inspire: Rajnath Singh on Kargil Vijay Diwas

New Delhi: Rajnath Singh, the Union Minister of Defence, honoured the heroes who gave their lives in the 1999 Kargil conflict on Friday, stating that their devotion and selflessness will serve as an inspiration to all Indians, including the future generations.

In a post on X, the Union Minister said, “Today, on the 25th anniversary of #KargilVijayDiwas, we remember the indomitable spirit and courage of the brave soldiers who fought valiantly in the 1999 war. Their unwavering commitment, valour, and patriotism ensured that our country remained safe and secure. Their service and sacrifice will continue to inspire every Indian and our coming generations.”

In one of the most difficult military operations in India’s history since independence, the Indian Army, supported by the Air Force, played a crucial role in driving Pakistani Army regulars off the rocky mountain summits of the Northern Kargil District in Ladakh throughout the three-month Kargil War.

More than 500 valiant troops made the ultimate sacrifice, their unwavering commitment and bravery making their nation proud.

At the Kargil War Memorial, where security has been increased, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay his respects, a solemn and significant moment for the nation.

On the eve of Kargil Diwas, PM Modi posted on X and stated, “Tomorrow, 26th July, is an extraordinary day for every Indian. We will mark the 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas. It is a day to pay homage to all those who protect our nation.” He added that he would honour India’s valiant heroes by going to the Kargil War Memorial. “Work will also commence for the Shinkun La Tunnel Project,” the post continues. This project, which is a part of the government’s efforts to improve infrastructure in the region, is crucial to enhancing Leh connectivity, particularly in inclement weather.
