Mumbai, Maharashtra: The Bombay High Court acquitted all the accused in the 7/11 train blasts case of 2006. Dr. Wahid Sheikh, who was an accused in the 2006 train blast case, says, “In 2006, the ATS arrested 13 people in this case, and I was also made an accused. Thirteen innocent people were put in jail. The trial continued in the Sessions Court for nine years, and in 2015, the verdict was delivered, in which I was honourably acquitted by the court. The other 12 individuals were convicted, five were sentenced to death and seven to life imprisonment. The case then went to the High Court, where it continued for ten years. Today, the court has honourably acquitted them as well. From day one, we maintained our innocence. We were tortured, false statements were extracted, and fake recoveries were shown. All of this has now been proven wrong. It has been established that the ATS built a false case. I am happy that after 19 long years, this judgment has finally come, though delayed, it means those innocent individuals will now be released. My brother-in-law, Sajid Ansari, was also an accused in this case. He was sentenced to life imprisonment and is still in Nashik Jail. The court has now acquitted him, too.”
