Children's Creativity Event To Commemorate Income Tax Day in Mumbai

Mumbai: If you are a child, then imagine participating in an event where you rub shoulders with ‘who’s who’ of the television world! And, lo and behold, the folks attending your event are the likes of Sonal Kaushal, who renders live voice-overs of beloved cartoon characters such as Doraemon, Chhota Bheem, Shinchan, Nobita, Little Singham and Perman.

This was exactly the scenario on Saturday, when the I-T department held an event for children to celebrate the 166th Income-Tax Day in Mumbai. A vibrant and heart-warming ‘Children’s Creativity Event Prize Distribution Award Ceremony’ at the Kautilya Bhawan Auditorium, BKC, was held to honour the young participants, including the winner of the creative competitions (held earlier). The participation entries were displayed in the lobby of ‘Kautilya Bhawan’.

Notably, the prize distribution was to recognise the creativity of children who had, a week ago, participated in a series of activities organised by the income tax department. It included painting & poster making, story & poetry writing competitions for children of income-tax officers at 11 residential colonies. Around 400 children participated in different categories.

The event was graced by Malathi R. Sridharan, principal chief commissioner of Income Tax, Mumbai, as the chief guest. In her address, she appreciated the overwhelming participation of children and emphasised the importance of regularly organising such creative platforms to nurture young talent. She congratulated the winners across all age groups, starting from under 1 year old to 15 years old.

Others in attendance included Sunil Bajpai, CCIT-5, Mumbai, and N. Jayashankar, CCIT(Central)-1, Mumbai. Guests of Honour were popular people such as Sharad Kelkar (actor & voice artist), Navin Prabhakar (comedian, singer & mimicry artist), Sonal Kaushal (voice over & dubbing artist), Nitish Bhaluni (Tappu from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah), and Balvinder Singh Suri (Sodhi from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah).

The audience was thrilled as Sharad Kelkar recited some of his iconic dialogues, bringing alive moments from his famous roles. The excitement peaked as children joyfully danced along with Sonal and Nitish Bhaluni (Tappu) on stage. Navin Prabhakar had the audience in splits with his spot-on mimicry and humour, lifting the energy of the auditorium to new heights with the voice of ‘Ghunghru’. The children and their parents also visited the ‘Kautilya Bhawan’ and were given a guided tour of the Income-tax Office, followed by lunch.

The event concluded on a high note, extending heartfelt thanks to all the children, parents and celebrity guests for making the event a grand success. Indeed, it was a day full of colours, laughter, talent, inspiration and a wonderful programme.
