Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh: CO Anuj Chaudhary and other officials enthusiastically celebrated Holi by dancing to festive songs. Anuj Chaudhary is often referred to as “Singham” due to his tough demeanour, reminiscent of the character from Rohit Shetty’s film “Singham.”
Earlier, CO Chaudhary informed the media that both Holi celebrations and Friday prayers were conducted peacefully in Sambhal. It is worth noting that Anuj Chaudhary gained public attention during riots in Sambhal, where he was shot in the leg during a clash with rioters.
Originally from Bahedi in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district, Anuj Chaudhary was once an accomplished wrestler, rising to prominence in the National Games. He has been a national wrestling champion multiple times since 1997 and was honoured with the Laxman Award in 2001. He also received the Arjun Award in 2005 for his achievements in sports.
Recognising his talent, the Uttar Pradesh government recruited Anuj Chaudhary into the Uttar Pradesh Police under the sports quota.
