Mumbai: Maharashtra Governor, C. P. Radhakrishnan, did the darshan and performed arti at the historic Sri Gundi Devi Mandir in the Raj Bhavan complex on the occasion of the Annual Jatra of the Goddess on Tuesday.
The Governor garlanded the murti of Goddess Sri Gundi and did darshan of Durga Mata, Mahalaxmi, Lord Shiva, Lord Rama and Hanuman deities in the temple premises.
The annual jatra of the Sri Gundi temple in Raj Bhavan was held following the Guru Purnima on Sunday.
Secretary to the Governor Dr. Prashant Narnaware, Deputy Secretary to the Governor S. Ramamoorthy, staff and officers of Raj Bhavan and State police were present on the occasion.
An annual jatra is a religious festival, celebrated once a year in various parts of India, particularly in Maharashtra and Nepal. These festivals typically involve processions, fairs, and cultural performances, and are dedicated to a local deity.
Sri Gurudevi Mandir, located within the Raj Bhavan complex, is an ancient temple, and it’s where the annual jatra is held. The temple also houses idols of Durga Mata, Mahalaxmi, Lord Shiva, Lord Rama, and Hanuman.
