Mumbai: Daler Mehndi is a famous personality of indie pop who has the speciality of composing songs by adding a strong fusion to Punjabi songs and by weaving the most ordinary words into tunes. Today is the birthday of singer Daler Mehndi; he has turned 58 today. Reportedly, the singer, influenced by the Patiala Gharana style of music, ran away from home when he was 11 years old, as he wanted to train under the renowned Late Ustad Raahat Ali Khan.
Daler’s unique style of singing and energy gave him a special place in the music industry. Songs like ‘Tunak Tunak Tun’, ‘Ho Jayegi Balle-Balle’ are still the life of weddings.
As colourful as Daler’s professional life was, his personal life was surrounded by controversies. In 2003, he was accused of human trafficking, due to which he had to spend a few nights in jail. This incident damaged his image to a certain extent. But then, he again worked his magic in Bollywood by singing songs in films like ‘Rang De Basanti’ and ‘Mirzaiya’.
