Ayodhya: Surya Kund at Ayodhya is situated around 4 km from the main city, which has become even more popular due to its recently introduced the light and sound show in the evening.
The kund is a big water tank, which underwent a grand makeover.
In the tranquil and beautiful surroundings, there is a temple of Surya bhagwan or Sun God next to the Kund; said to have been built by the suryavanshi rulers of Ayodhya who had also built the water tank.
According to the religious beliefs, Surya Bhagwan came to this spot when Lord Ram was born. It is from here that he first saw the infant Ram, and witnessed his past times as a child. It is further believed that the Sun God once again came to this place at the time of Lord Ram’s coronation, and stayed here.
