Mumbai: Maharashtra Governor C P Radhakrishnan presided over the joint celebration of the Nagaland (1 Dec) and Assam (2 Dec) State Formation Days at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai.
Nagaland and Assam State Formation Day was celebrated as part of the Government of India’s ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative.

Maharashtra Governor Radhakrishnan congratulated the people of Nagaland and Assam on their State Formation Days. He said Nagaland and Assam have made tremendous strides in education, employment, and tourism since their formation. Both states are blessed with unparalleled natural beauty and resources, and their progress is a source of pride for the entire nation.
This statement states that in order to understand and appreciate a state and its people, one must visit that state and experience its culture firsthand. The Governor called upon the State’s people to visit Nagaland and Assam and live among the people. According to him, this will foster the spirit of friendship and unity essential for national integration.
Maharashtra Raj Bhavan organised the State Formation Day with the SNDT Women’s University and ‘Ishwarpuram’, an organisation working to educate and empower youths from the North Eastern States.
The celebration was further enriched by the vibrant cultural performances. Students from Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, under the guidance of Ishwarpuram, showcased the famous bamboo dance. The students of SNDT Women’s University added to the cultural extravaganza with their mesmerizing Santhali dance and the soulful rendition of an Assamese folk song.
The Governor extended his appreciation to Prof. Ujwala Chakradeo, Vice Chancellor of SNDT Women’s University; Prof. Ruby Ojha; Vineet Kuber, President of Ishwarpuram; Prashant Joshi, Founder Member of Ishwarpuram; and the students and artists for their significant contributions to the event.
