Mumbai/Amravati, Maharashtra: Amid bomb threats and lashing rain, on Saturday, people in Maharashtra gathered to bid farewell to their favourite deity, Lord Ganesh, fondly called “Ganpathy Bappa”. For the past 10 days, Mumbai, along with its neighbouring cities and various other regions of the state, has been in a celebratory mood for Ganesh Chaturthi. After 10-day-long festivities, thousands of devotees across Maharashtra stepped out for Ganesh Visarjan (Immersion of Lord Ganesh’s idol). The politicians, as well, joined in the celebratory mood. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and his colleagues reached Girgaon Chowpatty this evening in Mumbai, where the Ganpati Visarjan was taking place. In Amravati, BJP leader Navneet Kaur Rana and her husband and MLA Ravi Rana performed rituals before Ganesh Visarjan.
