A teenage girl, who had been absconding from her Kandivali home since past couple of days, was allegedly raped by four to five men at Churchgate subway in the early hours of Tuesday.
A lady in a Borivali-destined train found the teenager lying in the same coach. She informed NGO Childline India Foundation and disembarked with the girl at Mahim station. “We rushed the girl to the Bhabha hospital in Bandra. She was transferred to the gynaecology department, where medical tests were carried out,” informed Vijay Kharat, from the NGO.
Western railway officials informed, “Doctors informed the city police after the girl told them that she was sexually violated by a few men at the Churchgate subway.” The Churchgate Government Railway police were summoned, who recorded the girl’s statement.
The girl divulged, she had fled her residence after a fight with her family on April 25. On Tuesday at 2 am, she was at Churchgate station when a few men coerced her to gulp beer and raped her, after which she became unconscious. She regained consciousness in the morning and went to the station to take a train to Kandivali.
The police officials, however, were doubtful as they did not find anything in the CCTV footage. They also maintained the girl kept changing her versions. They have, however, begun the probe and are waiting for the medical report. A case of gangrape has been registered against the unidentified men.
