34 flights delayed on foggy, coldest day in Delhi

Thirty-four flights were delayed on Friday due to the poor visibility caused by the dense fog in Delhi, said an official.

 
"The dense fog led to the delay of 34 flights. Four of them were to depart from Delhi, while the 30 others were to arrive," said a statement from the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport.
 
According to the Northern Railway, 35 trains were cancelled while 14 were running behind schedule due to dense fog in and around Delhi. One train was rescheduled.
 
Delhi on Friday was the season's coldest day with the minimum temperature recorded at 4.2 degrees Celsius, three notches below the season's average.
 
The city was engulfed by dense fog with the visibility slumping to 200 metres and the humidity at 8.30 a.m. being recorded at 97 percent, according to the weather office.
 
"Today was the season's coldest morning. Dense fog in Delhi and its adjoining areas continues to affect the visibility. The weather is likely to remain the same in the coming days," said an official of the India Meteorological Department.
 
The sky during the day will be clear and the maximum temperature is likely to hover around 18 degrees celsius, according to weather office.
 
Thursday's maximum temperature settled at 17.3 degrees Celsius, four notches below the season's average, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 6.9 degrees Celsius, one notch below the season's average.
