54 kg gold haul at Bangalore airport
Three men were arrested with 54 kg gold, valued at Rs.16 crore, at the Kempegowda international airport here late Saturday, police said.

"We trapped the accused and seized the gold on a tipoff from Kolkata police that they were on way to Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu) via Bangalore by a SpiceJet flight," Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) T.R. Suresh told IANS. The accused are Balasubramanya, Ravi Varma and Eshwar Murthy.

Though the trio had claimed to be gold merchants, they were not carrying relevant documents in support of the quantity of the yellow metal in their possession. The three have been booked and are being interrogated to ascertain their antecedents and motive behind carrying such huge quantity of gold, Suresh said.
