On Thursday, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar hit the Arvind Kejriwal government led by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi to say that the hanging of convicts in the 2012 Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder case has been delayed due to Delhi government's negligence. "The hanging of the convicts in Nirbhaya gangrape case in 2012 is now delayed due to negligence on the part of the Delhi government. AAP is responsible for this delay in justice," Javadekar said. The minister further questioned, "Why hasn't the Kejriwal government given notice to the convicts over the past 2.5 years for filing mercy plea?" Javadekar also told media that if, within a week of the Supreme Court order, the AAP government had issued notices to all convicts, they would have been hanged up by now and the country would have got justice.
