New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Monday that Maoism was a significant internal security challenge and asked the authorities to keep synergy between the States and the Center while building up local forces to neutralize organizations run by insurgent agencies. The Minister's comments were made at a review meeting on Maoism. The meeting was attended by Chief Ministers and officials of 10 Maoist-affected states – Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.He urged the states to adopt a focused, time-bound approach to completely eliminate the left-wing extremism (LWE) to ensure all-round development of the affected regions.
