New Delhi, Jan 31: India's National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval arrived in Moscow on Monday to hold strategic talks with particular reference to security and counter terrorism issues. The talks began on Monday with the first meeting held between Doval and the Russian security council secretary, Nikolai Patrushev a key aide of President Putin in Moscow.
The two sides are expected to cover all the intricate details of the security concerns and the while gamut of security partnership during the talks. Along with security concerns the impact of Trump administration on the geopolitical future of the world along with the issue of risk from Pakistan will also be part of the discussion between the old allies.
According to various agency reports Russia is likely to take up the issue of delay in implementing defense deals on the Indian side which is causing delays in Russia as well which is causing an upset in Russia over the fact that despite a year having passed, the deals have not taken shape on ground. There has also been no progress on the issue of purchase of twin engined 200 kamov ka 226 utility choppers.
The twin engined chooper deal was a major component of the defence pacts worth $ 10 billion signed between India and Russia during October 2015 summit. Indian had promised to buy 200 choppers of which 60 were to be fly aways and other 60 as knock down units and the balance 80 to be manufactured in India. The Ka 226s were supposed to replace the aging fleet of Cheetah and Chetak choppers.
