Lucknow: The Allahabad high court granted bail to Uttar Pradesh law student who charged former Union minister Chinmayanand with rape and was arrested for allegedly trying to extort money from the former minister. The second-year student at a college in Shahjahanpur was missing on August 24 after posting a social media video a day earlier, accusing him of bullying her and "destroying many girls ' lives." Chinmayanand's lawyer who had filed a counter-extortion case against the law student, charged that she, together with three of her male friends, Sachin Sengar, Shivam Singh, and Vikaram Singh, made Rs 5 Crore's application for ransom through a text message to her client. The woman had earlier said that the case of extortion against her had been slapped to weaken her case against Chinmayanand.
