An oasis of peace

The Mumbai chapter of Jama’at Ahmadiyya celebrated Eid Milan on August 24 – the message latent here is of universal brotherhood and communal amity for which this Islamic denomination is famed worldwide.

The very purpose of this Jama’at is to rejig the pristine glory of Islam. The recent religio-political development has created ultra outfits like ISIS, whose unfathomable thirst for blood remains proverbial. Tigris turns crimson as they prowl for ‘infidel’s’ blood. The scary footages portraying priests and women being beheaded in the rocky terrain of northern Iraq epitomizes orthodoxy at their worst. It also portrays the extent of beastly depth the present day Muslims have stooped to. In its over fourteen-hundred-year history, Islam has never undergone the trauma of this magnitude. It is being ostracized by the international community.

The 125-year-old Ahmadiyya community – founded by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadiyan (PBUH) – the promised Messiah and Mehdi, in 1889, has literally revolutionized the spiritual turf of Islam – which was loitering in the dark in the absence of any divine guidance.

The Messiah and Mehdi’s advent foresaw the fulfillment of Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) prophecy – that promised to bail out Islam from the Octopus-like grip of prejudices and blind faiths. Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad sahib is the fifth caliph of the Ahmadiyya Community who is presently living in London. The community has their presence in over 207 countries.

The Eid Milan gathering on August 24 witnessed scholarly speeches made by a glut of intellectuals, professionals, administrators and political personages. One among them was Padam Shree Muzaffar Hussain, a rightwing intellectual and a columnist with Shiv Sena’s mouthpiece Dopahar Ka Saamna. While eulogizing Ahmadiyya community for their progressive outlook and tolerance, Hussain lambasted Pakistan for triggering state sponsored violence against this peaceful community in their country.

He further said that the community has the potential to diffuse tension existing between the two warring nations – Pakistan and India.

Elaborating on the importance of Ramazan, the Jama’at’s Deputy Secretary, Tanveer Ahmad Khadim said, India provides equal opportunity to all their citizens irrespective of their faiths, cast, colour and language.

Khadim further said that the world would be a beautiful place to live if every human being eschews violence and adhere to the doctrines enshrined in their holy books as these contain ample teachings of love and amity.

Yuvraj Mohite, a social activist, said the time has come to establish peace as our country has suffered enough due to hatred. While Prashant Nandvani condemned those who tries to polarize the society.
