New Delhi, Nov 30: With uproar being the agenda of the day and opposition refusing to participate in any debate more so after the new income tax bill was passed in the Lok Sabha yesterday, both houses of Parliament were adjourned till noon today.
The Winter session started with massive face-off between the opposition and the ruling party and continues to hold the deadlock despite the Prime Minister’s presence in the Lok Sabha today. If the previous days are a sign to go by even today will be another wash out day with minimum if any work taking place.
Soon after the upper house met, Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad demanded the obituary reference to seven army men, including two officers, who died during the terror attack on an army camp at Nagrota near Jammu. Azad was joined by Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Mayawati, Janata Dal-United (JD-U) leader Sharad Yadav and Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav.
The opposition also gave two notices under Rule 267 for short discussion on demonetisation and the situation at the international border with Pakistan. Leader of the House Arun Jaitley assured the opposition that the government was ready to discuss both issues, but the din did not end.
Meanwhile in Lok Sabha too, despite the Prime Minister’s presence as was veing demanded by the opposition for so long, no debate was possible sine the opposition leaders took to the well of the house and repeatedly disrupted all discussions. The disruptive nature of ruckus eventually led both the houses to declare adjournment.
