A prominent MNS leader, Haji Arafat Sheikh, quits the party on Tuesday – accusing the party chief Raj Thackeray of being ‘indecisive’.
Sheikh, the head of MNS's transport wing Maharashtra Navnirman Vahtuk Sena, said Raj had lost his mental balance. "First he says he wants to fight the forthcoming assembly polls. Then he takes u-turn. A person who is not clear about his future plans cannot do good for the state,'' he ridiculed, "He also remains Narendra Modi’s staunch supporter, but his deputy Bala Nandgaonkar asks us to burn Modi's effigies."
Sheikh rued that he was sidelined in the party and many departments attached to the transport wing were handed over to Mahim MLA Nitin Sardesai and Raj Thackeray aide Manoj Chavan.
Divulging that Shiv Sena has promised to provide him party membership, he said, he would join a party that works for the good of transporters. His uncle Sabir Sheikh was a minister in the government led by saffron coalition and was a close aide to Sena chief Bal Thackeray.
Leveling charges against his former leader, he said, "During my term, I got 7.5 lakh members for the transport wing. But Raj Thackeray took away the aviation wing and gave it to Sardesai, while the labour unit attached to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust was given to Chavan. In JNPT, Chavan and MNS acted against the interest of Marathi people and many Marathis belonging to the Dhangar community lost their jobs."
