The iconic Bandra railway station will soon have a new look outside its premises. UNESCO will draw up a plan to redesign the public spaces surrounding Bandra railway station to improve traffic flow, signage, public amenities and cultural vibrancy,the MoU for heritage conservation of Bandra railway station was signed between Western Railway and UNESCO on Friday.
A novel 3D simulation walkthrough of the main station building with motion sensors — highlighting the unique features of the architectural design of the station will be created. "We intend to create a pedestrian zone outside Bandra station with the help of local civic authorities," said Manu Goyal, executive director (heritage) of the railway board said.
Remarks Manuel George, a commuter from Bandra, “Bandra station is example to the great heritage, the railways authorities should not only develop it from outside but also maintain and upgrade from inside.”
