This afternoon in Delhi, Arun Jaitley, former finance minister and veteran of the BJP who died on Saturday, was cremated with state honours. Several political rulers, cutting across party lines, paid him their respects and attended the funeral. The 66-year-old died at Delhi's All India Medical Sciences Institute soon after noon yesterday, where he was admitted for two weeks. The funeral was attended by most of the union ministers, with whom Mr Jaitley had served in the government of PM Modi's first term. In addition, there were Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, his deputy Manish Sisodia, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Kapil Sibal of Congress. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is abroad, missed the funeral.
