New Delhi, March 22: The Supreme court has adjourned the hearing of cirminal consipracy charges against political leaders until tomorrow. The conspiracy charges are pressed against BJP leaders Lal Krishna Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and Uma Bharti. The Apex court wil be hearing CBI's plea against Allahabad High Court's order, demanding that all charges be dropped against the leaders in the given case.
The hearing which is scheduled for tomorrow now will be hearing petitions for two cases; one against the BJP leaders who were seen as orceshtrating the entire demolition and the other against the hundreds of Karsevaks who were party to the demolition in and around the disputed structure on December 6, 1992.
The CBI has chargesheeted Advani and 20 others under Sections 153A (promoting enmity between classes), 153B ( imputations, assertions prejudicials to national integration) and 505 ( spreading false information and rumours).
The CBI had also invoked criminal conspiracy charges against the leaders but the same were squashed bu the special court whos decision was later upheld by the Allahabad High Court as well. The matter is therefore under SC overview for a final verdict.
The adjournment comes a day after the SC urged both the parties involved in the Babri Masjid dispute to find an out of court settlement which would resovle the matter for good, while stating that the CJI himself would be happy to act as cheif negotiator for resolving the case.
