ME News Bureau: The Islamic practice which allows men to leave their wives soon after stating "talaq" for three times is said to be a criminal offence. The Union Cabinet on Friday declared that such a practice is an offence that cannot be ignored. If in any case the bill proposed by the cabinet gets violated, the person would be jailed for three years along with a fine. Triple Talaq is also known as Talaq-e-Biddat. The bill is titled the 'Muslim Women(Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill, 2017. The bill allows the victim to seek maintenance and custody of her children from her husband. The law was prepared by home minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Finane Minister Arun Jaitley, Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and his junior in the ministry PP Chaudhary. The All India Muslim Personal Law Board opposes the law and said it is against the Muslim personal laws.
