The contending issue of computerised time scheduling seems to have resolved as the drivers and conductors of the 3500-strong fleet of city public transport bid adieu to strike to resume duty from yesterday evening.

 

The city was virtually paralyzed since Tuesday morning as the BEST staffers went on flash strike to protest against the stringent time scheduling.  The strike had affected office-goers, other commuters and even the schoolchildren. The unions were opposed to the 12 to 13-hour work schedule for 20% staffers and wanted to continue the earlier manual system of scheduling.
