BEST haughtiness singes Kurla commuters

Though a minor incident; it may result into violent protest
The news of human rights violations and official haughtiness no longer spur our conscience the way it should. We blandly react and seem to have gotten accustomed to it.
Though a small incident but has all the potential to blow up into violent outbursts, visited Kurla’s Nehru Nagar BEST depot on April 18 which has shocked the commuters present there. After a long wait, an irritated commuter indulged in heated arguments on which he was severely beaten up by the BEST staff.
When contacted the BEST officials, they pretended ignorance first. When repeatedly apprised them of the seriousness of the issue they promised to take action against the erring officials after probe.
This seems to be an insignificant incident but has wider ramification. It reflects the growing disenchantment of citizens with the authorities. The people are squirming to come out from such haughty attitudes of officials.
However, former IPS officer, YP Singh believes tight schedule behind such obstinacy.
