Bihar minister has no connection with terror suspects: Police

Bihar Police Friday gave a clean chit to state Minorities Welfare Minister Shahid Ali Khan over his alleged connection with two agents of the Indian Mujahedeen or Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence.
"Police inquiry found it was not true. Minister has no connection with two suspected IM or ISI agents," ADGP Ravinder Kumar said at a press conference called especially to clarify police stand on the issue after TV channels started broadcasting Khan's connection with terror suspects.
After the hue and cry over Khan's alleged connection with two IM agents following the surfacing of a central security agency letter, Kumar said Khan's alleged connection with two terror suspects was found not true.
He added the inquiry was conducted by superintendents of police of Motihari and Sitamarhi districts.
"A letter in this connection was not sent by IB but SSB to Special Task Force (STF) and it was STF that conducted inquiry into it and allegation was not found true," Kumar said.
It was reported that a letter in this connection was sent by IB to Bihar Police. Kumar said it was wrong to say a letter in this connection was sent to the Bihar Police headquarters.
Kumar said the two terror suspects were found to be residents of Sitamarhi and Motihari but their connection with IM or ISI was not established. Khan told IANS here the allegations against him were baseless and it was part of an attempt to defame a Muslim, whether he is a minister or a common man.
Meanwhile, opposition Bharatiya Janata Party has demanded resignation of Khan over the issue.
