Heavy, continuous rains lashed the city on Thursday night leading to water-logging and affecting rail services in several parts of the city. Municipal Commissioner Ajoy Mehta has asked schools to remain shut on Friday due to heavy showers. The Mumbai University has also postponed all theory and practical examinations due to heavy rains. According to data released by the BMC's disaster management department, the city received 188 mm rainfall till 8 am in the morning, while the eastern and the western suburbs received 155 mm and 172 mm rainfall respectively in the last 24 hours
