The BMCofficialson Friday afternoon reached Campa Cola Society under full police protection to cut power, water and gas supply to the illegal flats. Officials on reaching the complex faced protest by slogan-shouting residents. The women wereat the forefrontand had formed human chain to prevent officials from entering the complex.

The hapless residentssaid they havebeen livingthere since decades and questioned why such atrocities were beingcommitted on them. ‘We will not vacate the premises and will not allow demolishing our houses, where will we go….,’ one of them asked.

The civic body had issued notice to the residents of Campa Cola Society under section 488 of the MuncipalCorporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) Act a couple of days back, thedeadline for the residents has ended today.

A religious ritual to invoke divine intervention could also be seen being performed within the campus.

RPI and few otherpolitical parties could be witnessedshouting slogans and blocking society’s gates in support ofCampa Cola Residents.

While, Officials of the Municipal Corporation arein communication with their higher ups and will be making another round of visit to the compound.
