BMC starts thinking of Cloud Seeding
Monsoon is more than a month away but the richest civic body of the country Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has started to think ahead of cloud seeding, this after weather forecasters have predicted average to moderate rainfall this year. Cloud Seeding is artificial method of bringing rains to catchment areas, when the possibility of rains is less.

Mumbai which has six lakes to store rain water needs 14 lakh million litres of water in its lakes to have a normal water supply for the entire year, at present the water stock in all six lakes add up to 4.12 lakh million litres, sufficient enough to last till June end. According to sources, BMC officials from the Hydraulic department have already started taking meetings regarding cloud seeding. The BMC has conducted experiments in 1998 and in 2009 of cloud seeding after spending crores, nut the experiments failed.
