The situation turned ugly when a loudspeaker was removed from a temple in the Kanth area on the direction of district administration, early on Friday in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad district. The administration’s move was dictated by worsening law and order situation there.
The BJP and VHP have aired their displeasure over this and called the state government’s move partisan. Meanwhile, the VHP has announced to take out ‘Jal Abhishek Yatra’ as part of the ongoing protest. Several leaders of the party were detained by the police as part of preventive measure.
The Communist Party’s senior leader from the state has also condemned the state government’s move and urged the centre to impose president rule in the state. The Left leader, however, asked the BJP to refrain from playing partisan politics.
The state government, meanwhile, has sealed the border of the district to prevent BJP leaders from other places to congregate there.
