Cars, tempos obliterate BEST-Stop from view
Several BEST bus stops at the crowded Bhindi Bazar completely obliterated from view. Thanks to the vehicles parked there despite the fact that the area comes under no parking zone.

The commuters are facing immense trouble to board bus as they have to stand on roads to get the one.

When apprised of the problem, the cops who were regulating traffics a few furlong away at Shalimar hotelcorner, they first tried to evade the reporter’s query but after much persuasion assured the traffic department would soon initiate action against this.

This has a cascading effect – besides posing trouble for commuters it also causes traffic snarl as the parked vehicles occupy almost one third of the road here.

‘A few days back a serious accident has been averted when one boy was trying to board bus and a speeding bike had almost knocked him down. It was a close shave and he got a new lease of life,’ said SayeedShaikh, a civil engineer.

The area is swarming with a glut of shops, commercial establishments and high density residential habitats.  The busy section, which is considered the lifeline of South Mumbaiis undergoing major redevelopment works, has buzzing traffic segments.

‘All the important BEST services, such as routes number 51, 2, 5 and 8, pass through this way. And the area dotted with even small and medium scale industries witness crowd spilling on streets after 5.30 in the evening which causes problem due to unlawfully parked vehicles there,’ lamented Shaikh.
