Catchment areas receive good rains
The heavy downpour over the past couple of days has led to catchment areas fast catching up with the city. Lakes received an average of 100mm rainfall on Wednesday and Thursday, which roughly translates into two more days of water supply for the city. As on Friday, the city had just 23 days of water stock available.

Water stock in all the lakes, which stood at 1.11 lakh million litres on Wednesday, rose to 1.45 lakh litres on Thursday. The city has got around 30-40% of the season's total rainfall so far.

According to civic officials, if the weather system is not disturbed and the rains continue in the catchment areas, the deficiency in rainfall will be totally covered by the month-end. The Indian Meteoroidal Department has predicted that rains in catchment areas will pick up over the next two days.
