Central Railway to shift harbour line?

By ME Bureau

Central Railway has proposed to shift the Harbour line from the west of CST to the east, along P D'Mello Road. The elevated line will originate from CST's platform No 18 and connect Dockyard Road.

The freed up Harbour line can be used as the fifth and sixth lines for main line traffic. A Central Railway official said, "We are working out an arrangement where pillars for the Freeway extension can be use for laying of elevated tracks." Commuters using the corridor will be provided a link to the main line stations and Sandhurst Road at Masjid and Sandhurst Road with skywalks.

Remarks Velji Parekh a Wadala resident and a harbour line commuter, “If this is done than it will be good news. There will be more trains as frequency will be increased.”
