An 11-storied under-construction building in Chennai collapsed late on Saturday evening, the police informed.

 

Eight persons have reportedly succumbed to their injury in the hospital and several others are still feared trapped in the debris, the police said.26 persons have been rescued so far and admitted to a nearby hospital, the fire brigade officials informed media persons.Meanwhile, the police detained four persons including the owner of the building for questioning.

 

The DGP has reached the site of the tragedy to personally monitor the rescue operation.
