At a meeting convened at the Mumbai Regional Congress Committee’s office here on Monday, the party workers expressed their ire over the snobbish attitude of some of the senior party leaders when they were heading ministries in the government.

“The current poll debacle humbled them and they started remembering us now, earlier they seldom recognized us,” they rued.

“When they held ministerial portfolios they remained surrounded by sycophants. Where are they disappeared now?”  A party worker ridiculed. “If the trend isn’t arrested – nobody can save the Congress from getting sunk into oblivion”.

Incensed over the ageing party’s indifference to address minorities’ problem one Muslim worker said, “The Congress shouldn’t take minorities for granted. Muslim’s have grown politically more mature and can decide their fate.”

“Now, the Congress must start from the scratch, literally from ground zero stage to rebuild its smashed image. Otherwise, no power on earth can save the ageing party from doom,” a senior party leader on condition of anonymity said.

The meeting was convened to decide on how to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the first PM of India Pandit Jawar Lal Nehru”.

One party worker prophesized “The Congress may witness its doom soon while the BJP may register scintillating success in the coming days.”
