NEW DELHI: Protests broke out today in both parliaments over electoral bonds and privatization of public sector units, leading to interim president of Congress Sonia Gandhi leading a walkout in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha being adorned till midday. The House, which called both things "major scams," charged the government with "making official bribery." Also featuring a sharp exchange of words between Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, House Leader of Congress, and Speaker Om Birla, was the protests in the Lok Sabha, which included a 15-minute period in which MPs stormed the Well while chanting slogans. The issue began with Manish Tewari, senior Congress member, raising the issue of electoral bonds. He said the decision of the government to go ahead with the scheme given the reservations of the central bank "made government official corruption."
