CR Stations to get emergency medical rooms

By Apurva Bhatt

In a major relief to suburban train commuters who are victims of train mishaps and accidents and who try desperately to get emergency medical treatment the Central Railway has decided that it will set up emergency medical rooms at 12 suburban stations on the Main and Harbour lines.

Each room will have a bed, stretcher, portable oxygen cylinders and other medical equipment and a doctor, nurse and a attendant will work in shifts round the clock. Said an official from CR, “We have invited tenders for the same. The stations have been selected on the basis of 100 or more deaths which occurred in 2014.”

Remarks Kaustubh Pawar a regular commuter from Kurla, “Sometimes I see victims body lying on the tracks and nobody comes to attend it. If emergency rooms are set up this will help victims get treatment immediately.”
