Criminal cases against 16 re-elected Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh MLAs

A total of 13 re-elected Rajasthan MLAs have criminal cases against them as against just three in Chhattisgarh, according to an Association of Democratic Reforms analysis released Saturday.
Meanwhile, the growth in assets of the 22 re-elected MLAs in Chhattisgarh is 147 percent or Rs.18.8 million. In Rajasthan, the corresponding figure for the 67 re-elected MLAs is 130 percent or Rs.22 million, the release said here.
In Chhattisgarh, the average assets of 22 re-elected MLAs in 2013 is Rs.31.6 million. The average assets of the MLAs in 2008 were Rs.12.7 million.
The highest growth in assets in five years (2008-2013) has been for Gurumukh Singh Hora of the Congress, an MLA from the Dhamtari assembly constituency.
In Rajasthan, the biggest asset growth in five years is of Ashok Parnami of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) representing the Adarsh Nagar constituency.
He declared an increase of Rs.229.5 million (627 percent) from Rs.36.6 million in 2008 to Rs.266.1 million in 2013.
Two MLAs in the state declared a decrease in assets. Vijay Kumar of the BJP from Bharatpur declared a fall of 46 percent while Independent Anju Devi Dhanka from Bassi declared a 19 percent drop.
