Customs officials assault guard at Mumbai airport

A spat between a senior Customs official and a private security guard at the cargo section of the Sahar international airport on Saturday evening resulted into a fisticuff, with both allegedly ending up slapping each other.

Other Customs staffers joined their senior and allegedly beaten the guard. The guard was saved as other cargo employees reportedly arbitrated.

But there is no evidence on who hit first. The argument began at about 5pm when the officer was entering the cargo premises in his official car. While some argued that the officer slapped the guard first, others said it was the guard who first raise his hand.

The labour union has requested the CISF to protect the CCTV footage, with which the police can expose the truth. The eye-witnesses’ statements were recorded at the Sahar police station.
