In a terse reply to the newly appointed BJP president Amit Shah, the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat told him not to anticipate any help from RSS in the forthcoming assembly elections in certain states, including Maharashtra.
The BJP’s master strategist, Shah was in Nagpur – his first visit to the city post donning the hat of party chief, to seek the blessings of the sarsanghachalak.
Well placed sources in the BJP said Bhagwat aired his displeasure over the BJP’s eagerness to form government in Delhi without having the magic figure. He is reportedly opined Shah to go for fresh elections and also fulfill all promises made to the people in its poll manifesto.
Bhagwat has reportedly told Shah that the RSS supported the saffron party during the Lok Sabha polls, in which it registered a landslide win, as the nation was undergoing tumultuous phase and needed a robust administration with decisive leadership at the Centre.
The right outfit – RSS, developed a parallel mechanism to maneuver booth level management. He counseled the wily politico to fortify the BJP and motivate party workers for the polls, instead of being ‘spoon fed’ by the Sangh.
Wide spectrum of topics was discussed between them, besides polls in the states – though it remained the central issue. They also deliberated on the knotty subject of seat sharing between the BJP and Shiv Sena in Maharashtra.
Receiving red carpet welcome, Shah arrived at the RSS headquarters and his visit is considered significant in the wake of forthcoming elections and disputes in the saffron alliance over seat distribution. Sources, however, claimed Shah was not in favour of severing their two decade old ties with the Shiv Sena.
