Delhi Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung Wednesday said he would meet all party leaders to discuss the possibility of government formation in the capital in a few days, a move which AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal described as delaying tactics in installing a new administration.

 

 

 Kejriwal, like on earlier occasions, called Jung a "BJP agent" and accused him of working on its instructions.

 

 The Congress too slammed Jung, with party leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi expressing astonishment.

 

 "Astonishing how quickly the LG changed colours to saffron. Power does it to some," Singhvi tweeted.

 

 The development came a day after the Supreme Court upbraided the BJP-led central government for not being sincere in ensuring a new government in Delhi which has been under President's Rule since Feb 17.

 

 A communique from Raj Bhavan Wednesday said: "In view of the president's approval to explore the possibility of installing a popular government in Delhi, Najeeb Jung would be exploring the possibility with the leaders of all political parties over the next few days."

 

 Jung Tuesday met Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

 

 Reacting to Jung's communique, Kejriwal said Jung's invitation to all party leaders was just a way to "bypass the hearing in the Supreme Court Thursday".

 

 The Supreme Court is hearing a petition filed by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which has demanded fresh elections to the Delhi assembly.

 

 "On the BJP's instruction, he is delaying. Earlier, he said he would call the BJP and now he is saying he will hold an all-party meeting," he added.

 

 Meanwhile, sources in the BJP told IANS that the party was ready for fresh polls.

 

 "Results in the Haryana and Maharashtra polls have boosted our confidence. We will win Delhi too," a party source told IANS.

 

 The national capital has been without an elected government since February, the month in which the AAP quit the government.

 

 The Delhi assembly has been under suspended animation and the single largest party, the BJP, has often been accused of "horse-trading" to form the government.

 

 After three BJP legislators were elected to the Lok Sabha in May, the effective strength of the assembly came down to 67 from the original 70.

 

 The BJP's tally also got reduced to 28 from 31. It has the support of a lone Akali Dal legislator.

 

 After expelling Vinod Kumar Binny from the party, the AAP is left with 27 legislators.

 

 The Congress has eight legislators. There is one independent legislator and one from the Janata Dal-United.
