New Delhi: Devendra Fadnavis ' sudden takeover in Maharashtra was conceived as a "drama" to shield Rs 40,000 crore in central funds and safely return it, BJP leader Ananth Kumar Hegde said in a surprising statement that made his party embarrassed."You all know that our guy was chief minister recently in Maharashtra for only 80 hours, but soon Fadnavis resigned. Why did we have to do this drama? Didn't we know? Why did he become chief minister despite knowing that we don't have a majority? This is the question everyone asks," Hegde said on Saturday, while campaigning in Yallapor in his Uttara Kannada constituency for by-polls on Thursday. He said " Rs 40,000 crore" was under the Chief Minister's control. "If the NCP, Coanngress and Shiv Sena came to power, certainly that Rs 40,000 crore would not have gone for development and would have been misused,"
