With a view to Maharashtra state assembly election on October 15, the state Election commission has left no stone unturned to conduct free and fair elections.

The commission has briefed the concerned officers and staff regarding adhering to law while handling the polling duties. Any officer or staff found flouting instructions of the election commission would be penalized under the clause 134 of People’s Representation Act, 1951.

Election Commission has deployed a total of 25,000 officers and staff in Mumbai District comprising of ten constituencies which has 2574 Polling centers.

Staff from various central / state government departments, municipal corporations, local bodies, and teachers has been shortlisted, of which there will be 2831 polling center heads, 2831 assistant center heads, 5662 polling officers, 2831 election staff.
