The Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD), peeved by state government’s apathy towards their demands, has ultimately called off their strike at around 11.30 PM after a meeting with the state medical education minister.
MARD had gone on an indefinite strike last year for nearly five days after which they resumed with work after the government assured them that their demands would be discussed in the cabinet meeting. While the MARD had gone on a two days strike this year in January, the HC intervened following which it was called off.
Sources said the strike was called off this time since many patients were being admitted due to the monsoon season and with the patient load, it would be unfair to go on an indefinite strike, said the doctor.
